Vacancy for Design Technician

Due to substantial growth, we are expanding our design team. We are looking to employ a competent Design Technician to assist in the design and specification of various projects to be manufactured within our facility.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Produce and manage working Technical drawings and information for production.
  • Create and manage cutting lists information which is used in production.
  • Create and amend BOM’s for our current ranges.
  • Assist with production queries and issues needing Technical support.
  • Assist in the development of our products with regards to build, and quality improvements.
  • Ability to run small to large projects.
  • Support in the training of junior staff members.
  • Be actively involved in product development, including cost benefit improvements.
  • Assist in developing our work process’s, within our continuous improvement work.


  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D.
  • A good knowledge of Solidworks/Inventor 3D software.
  • An in-depth understanding of Caravan holiday home construction.
  • Minimum of 3 years drawing office experience in the Caravan holiday home sector.
  • Good design engineering knowledge with a variety of materials.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Have good problem solving skills, whilst also having the ability to focus on detail.

Strong order book at Hull caravan manufacturer leads to 80 additional production staff jobs being created

Atlas Leisure Homes Ltd is recruiting for 80 caravan production jobs, including jig shop and cab shop operators, finishers, roofers, and furnishers due to a strong order book and continued growth.

As staycations look likely to be here for quite some time, many caravan parks have needed to grow their fleet, and more people are opting to invest in their own holiday home rather than risking travel abroad. This has led to an increased order book – and with no sign of it slowing down – the time was right for the company to grow its people and premises.

The company has made a significant investment, with the strong support of HSBC UK Bank in 55,000sq foot of additional manufacturing space in the West Carr Business Park (the former McBride plant) on Sutton Fields to accommodate the new production lines within COVID safe guidelines. The site has been unused for a number of years and the investment will help to regenerate the area.

Operations director, Colin Jeffrey, said: “Obviously it’s been a tough time in our industry. Like many others we had to furlough staff during lockdown and even when we were able to return to our existing production site, we didn’t have enough space to allow our staff to return to a safe environment. So, we’re delighted to be in a position to recruit so many people and to have the space to be able to safely take them on.”

In June, Atlas created an employee led taskforce to carry out a COVID-19 risk assessment and shared the results with the rest of the staff. They then worked cross-function to implement new policies and ways of working to be able to sustain a safe working environment, including wash stations, 2m distancing, mask wearing and temperature checking for all staff and visitors before entry to site is allowed in order to manage transmission risk.

Continued growth at Hull-based caravan manufacturer leads to two new appointments

Hull caravan manufacturer, Atlas Leisure Homes, has bolstered its sales team with the creation of two new director roles. 

Janette McClean

Janette McClean has been promoted from her Regional Sales Manager role to Regional Sales Director – North. She has been with the company for over two years, in which time she has successfully led the northern team with both new customer wins and year-on-year growth with existing distributors.  

Joint Managing Director, Phil Spark, said: “Janette has supported the business through a time of rapid change and growth, taking responsibility for sales, customer service, and ensuring we continue to provide the very highest quality product that our dealers have come to expect from us. I was delighted to be able to promote from within for this new role. I know that she provides a safe pair of hands to support our customers.” 

Commenting on the new role, Ms McClean said “I’m really pleased to have been recognised in this way and am looking forward to delivering continued growth for Atlas and our customers – despite these strange and challenging times we’re working in.” 

Tim Parker

Joining the team in the second newly-created role, Regional Sales Director – South, is Tim Parker, who joins with a wealth of experience in the market. 

“It feels like the right time to bring someone in to the business who can help us drive further growth and so we can offer an even better service to our customers based in the south, and Tim is the ideal fit for this. He has a proven history of working successfully within the holiday home manufacturing industry,” commented Spark.  

Speaking about starting the new role, Parker said: “To start a new job in the current environment, having only met a few of my new colleagues, and not even having had a tour of the factory yet, is certainly different to what I’m used to, however I’m really looking forward to getting my teeth in to the new role. I’m based right in the heart of where many of our customers are, so as soon as lockdown ends, I’ll be able to get out and meet with them.” 

COVID-19: Important customer information from Atlas Leisure Homes

Following the latest Government advice relating to social isolation and the global outbreak of COVID-19, Atlas Leisure Homes continues to put the safety of our staff, customers and suppliers at the forefront of our minds.
Our absolute priority is to ensure the health and safety of our employees and customers. We are all, as responsible businesses following advice from the Government and the UK’s health department in making sure we’re doing everything we can to prevent the spread of the virus and protect our employees.

In order to ensure some form of business continuity we have implemented our COVID-19 emergency plan, this isn’t something we have taken lightly and do hope we will all return to normality as swiftly and as safely as possible. We have taken the decision to immediately suspend production activities across the business until further notice. At this time, we do not know when production will re-commence, however, we will continue to update all of our customers across the coming weeks and we will be led by Government advice.

Until further notice Atlas engineers will not be attending any units and all warranty / aftersales should be emailed to warranty@atlaslh.co.uk . We will be reviewing these daily and will endeavour to discuss and resolve any critical issues immediately.
